Some households keep the same stockings for twenty years, and the faded ones are always the most loved. Maileg's Christmas Stocking in Flower is made to become one of those: 59cm tall and pieced from a patchwork of Christmas-coloured fabrics.
Its outside is mostly cotton, with linen, ramie and lyocell woven in, and it is lined in polyester; and it can go through a 30°C wash before being stretched back into shape while still damp. Our small 11.5cm fabric stockings are tree ornaments; this is the real thing, sized for the mantelpiece and for a proper Christmas morning. Its sister stocking comes in Check, for houses with more than one name to hang up.
