There is a button in the ear of every genuine Steiff. It has been there since 1904 — a mark of authenticity that has outlasted almost everything else in children's toys.
These are bears that get named on the first morning. That go everywhere for years. That end up on a shelf in an adult bedroom because no one can quite bring themselves to put them away.
