About 1973
1973 was founded in Brighton in 2003 by Emma and James Emmerson — named for the year they were both born. Drawn together by a shared love of design and typography, they began at their kitchen table and now print on vintage Heidelberg letterpresses, collaborating with illustrators from around the world. Their cards run from laugh-out-loud to quietly lovely, and are made on recycled paper as part of the studio's commitment to printing well and printing responsibly.
