The writing was on the wall. Now it is on this van — in matte black, with a silicone spray can on top.

The Graffiti Black is one of Candylab's most characterful designs: a food truck-style van in flat black with a street art aesthetic and a black silicone spray can sitting on the roof like a badge of honour. It is both a toy and a statement — the kind of Candylab piece that earns a permanent spot on a teenager's desk or a design-conscious adult's shelf as easily as it earns five minutes of imaginative play on the kitchen floor.

Made from solid beech wood with water-based paint and a clear urethane coat, ABS plastic wheels. Part of the CandyCar Food Truck Collection — which takes a very particular pleasure in finding the gap between what a food truck looks like and what it sells.

Candylab was founded by Romanian architect Vlad Drăgușin, who grew up loving mid-century American muscle cars and couldn't find toy versions worth keeping. His first cars — funded on Kickstarter, made in Brooklyn — ended up at MoMA, the Design Museum in London, and at Colette in Paris. The toy car that children play with and adults quietly decide to keep.
