Twenty yellow planks, twenty green — and an art book of structures that make the most of both.

The Yellow and Green edition of the KAPLA Book and Colours set brings the warmth of a summer palette to the same precise plank that can build anything. Forty planks — 20 in yellow, 20 in green, both dyed with food-grade colouring — come with an art book of original construction models tailored to this combination: from straightforward stacks for younger builders to layered, graphic designs that treat the two colours as a visual language. No glue, no clips, no connectors anywhere. KAPLA planks are all identical, which means this set combines directly with any existing KAPLA collection. Landes pine from KAPLA's own sustainably managed forests in south-west France.

  • 40 planks: 20 yellow + 20 green, dyed with food-grade colouring

  • Every plank identical: 11.7 x 2.3 x 0.78cm, ratio 1:3:15 — the KAPLA standard
  • No glue, clips, or connectors — structures hold by balance and gravity
  • Landes pine from sustainably managed French forests; also available in Blue and Red/Orange

KAPLA was invented in 1987 by Tom van der Bruggen, a Dutch antique dealer who fell in love with a ruined farm on the Tarn river in southern France and decided to turn it into a castle. To plan the build, he made a scale model — and finding that wooden blocks were too bulky for the details, he designed his own plank, based on the precise ratio 1:3:15. The result was KAPLA: a single plank that can build anything. The planks are made from sustainably managed Landes pine, grown in KAPLA's own forests in the south-west of France, and coloured with food-grade dyes. The company remains based near Bordeaux.
